Microneedling uses tiny needles to create microscopic injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries cause the skin to repair itself, stimulating the production of elastin and collagen, which are necessary for keeping the skin looking healthy and youthful.
At SKINAESTHETICA, we use the SkinPen, which is FDA cleared and clinically proven to improve the appearance of acne scars and wrinkles. The SkinPen has an adjustable needle depth that allows your treatment to be uniquely customized. Microneedling can also be used with topicals (e.g. Hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C) and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to penetrate better into the skin, allowing for better results!
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING AND AFTER MY MICRONEEDLING TREATMENT?
The needles used for medical grade microneedling treatments are extremely small and cause little to no pain, although there may be some slight discomfort. Following a treatment, there is minimal downtime. Your skin may be slightly red for a few days, but this can be covered with make-up or tinted sunscreen starting 24 hours after your treatment. Additionally, avoid being out in the sun for a few days and protect your skin with a strong sunscreen when you go out.
IS THERE ANY AFTERCARE FOLLOWING MY MICRONEEDLING TREATMENT?
We recommend using medical grade skin care products to use at home daily to support the results of your microneedling treatment. We offer a curated selection hand picked by our physicians in our office and will help customize a treatment program based on your unique needs and goals!
